Broken Bow Spirit 18U Softball Falls in Doubleheader to Wildfire 18U

The Broken Bow 18U Spirit softball team dropped a doubleheader to Wildfire 18U of North Platte Thursday evening at Tyke Arnold field.

In game one, Wildfire used a seven run third inning to help secure a 10-0 win.  Wildfire pitching held the Spirit to just three hits.  Ida Bumgarner accounted for two of the three Broken Bow hits and Ruby Russell was 1 for 2 at the plate with a triple.

In game two, Broken Bow scored two runs in the top of the first but the Wildfire responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and then added six more runs in the third to secure a 9-2 win.  Broken Bow finished with six hits in the game.  Emma Thornton was 2 for 2 in the game with a run scored.  Ida Bumgarner and Anslee Campbell each collected a double and drove in a run.  The Spirit’s other two hits on the night came from Carli Griffiths and Bailey Hawkins.

The Spirit are now 5-7 on the season.
