The Gates community center needs repairs, and those passionate about making sure it gets fixed have organized a fundraiser day to raise funds. Throughout the day Saturday (May 30), the public is invited to enjoy food and activities to help their effort.
All day activities include an antique tractor show and competitors doing their best to win the barbeque competition.
The day’s activities start at 1 PM with kids games, a bounce house, horseshoes, and relays which will go until 5 PM. Those wishing to compete in a cornhole tournament can do so for a $10 entry fee starting at 1 PM as well. Part of the entry fees raised will go to the winners, with the rest going to the community center’s needed repairs.
A pedal tractor pull signup is set for 2 PM, with the event to start at 2:30 PM. Barbeque competition results will be announced before their hard work is served to the public starting at 6 PM. Adult plates are $20, kids 5 to 12 are $10, and kids under age 5 are free.
Those searching for the Gates community can head north out of Broken Bow on Airport Road for 17 miles. Organizers said they are excited to welcome as large of a crowd as possible to keep the community center in strong repair to keep serving the area. They added that concerns of precipitation shouldn’t worry anyone with the day in their plans, as the gym indoors is an alternate plan in place.
