Grocery Kart continues to host Burger Bashes on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.
The tradition of Grocery Kart’s Burger Bash as a fundraiser for local organizations has gone on for well over 10 years. On average, organizations serve about 350 burgers per Burger Bash.
Steve Fowler, manager of Grocery Kart, says that in communities like Broken Bow, it’s important, as a business, to give back to the customers.
“As a business in a small community or anywhere in Nebraska or the nation, the ability to be involved with the community makes a difference and to be able to make a difference and give back to those who support our store is just phenomenal,” stated Fowler.
This year there are nine scheduled Burger Bash events. On May 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. funds will go to the Girl Scouts. On May 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. funds will support the American Legion Auxiliary. In June, the 4th will go to the Broken Bow Rotary, the 11th will go to Custer County Salvation Army, the 18th will support the Ansley Rotary, and the 25th will support Teammates. Finally in July, there will be a Burger Bash on the 9th, 16th, and 23rd to support the Prairie Pioneer Center, Broken Bow Lions Club, and the Children’s Theatre Association.
Fowler says that the schedule for next year will come out after this season is complete.
“Now you have to get in early. I don’t start accepting people asking for Burger Bashes until after the current season is over. That’s about the time frame that I start accepting and start marking it on the calendar for the next year,” Fowler said.
