The Custer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle rollover just ahead of the 3 PM hour on Sunday near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Road 441 near Broken Bow.
According to the incident report, an SUV driven by John Foss, age 36 of Broken Bow, left the roadway to the right into the ditch when traveling north on Memorial Drive. It then struck the slope of the ditch of Road 441, went airborne over the road and landed in the ditch across the road before going airborne a second time off the culvert, crashing into the slope of the ditch/roadway of Memorial Drive. The vehicle then rolled down the edge of the road coming to rest on its driver side.
The responding deputy stated that Foss was outside of the vehicle when he arrived on scene and said that he had been drinking. He was transported to Melham Medical Center and the vehicle was towed by Trumbull Towing.
The investigation is ongoing, as a full NDOT accident report and subpoena for medical records from the hospital will be completed.
