Carey Named Brooks Wallace Award Semifinalist

Senior Dylan Carey was named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award on Wednesday by the College Baseball Foundation.

The award honors the nation’s top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.

Carey is hitting .385 with 12 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs and 38 runs scored while ranking seventh nationally with 65 hits and 19th in the country with 52 RBI on the season.

The Castle Rock, Colo., native has a team-best 1.133 OPS and has totaled 20 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI performances this season.
