The Broken Bow Public Library will once again be offering numerous activities for all ages as the calendar turns to the month of April. A project that continues this month is “Library Wrap 250”. The library is encouraging individuals and families to read or listen to books this year with the goal of “wrapping” the library with a representation of each book read. In a recent edition of KCNI’s Public Affairs, Broken Bow library director Megan Svoboda said that the project is going strong.
“So I think hopefully if everyone keeps up with the reading and the enthusiasm we will be able to get this accomplished. We’re hoping to have the whole library wrapped this year and we’re giving out prizes along the way as incentives to keep everybody motivated. So everyone is really enjoying this. It’s been a fun fun program to start.”
Another library project that continues to go strong is the “StoryWalk” at Melham Park. The StoryWalk was established in the fall of last year and features 25 storyboards each displaying a page of a story. A rather mild winter has kept the StoryWalk active moving into the spring and summer. Svoboda said the project continues to be enjoyed by many and has turned into the success they hoped it would.
“Yes, we are so happy that everyone’s enjoying it. That was the goal and we’re attaining the goal. So that just makes us very proud.”
Other library activities for April include retro game day for adults 55 and over on April 15th, potato chip tasting on April 22nd, music bingo on April 23rd, and a special workshop for this year’s high school graduates on how to decorate your graduation cap on April 28th and 29th.
