Omaha, NE – Yvonne Slingsby age 58, formerly of the Broken Bow area passed away March 25, 2026, at the CHI Health Immanuel in Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Westerville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 30th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Govier Brothers are in charge of arrangements. Yvonne Lea Slingsby was born on April 13, 1967, to Don and Connie (Holbrook) Slingsby in Broken Bow, NE. When Yvonne was born, she weighed 3 pounds, 1 ounce. Yvonne had childhood-onset Cerebral Palsy. She was diagnosed at age 6 months. Yvonne was the 2nd of the twins. Yvonne attended school in Broken Bow, then graduated from Anne Carlson School in Jamestown, North Dakota.
After Jamestown, Yvonne came home for three years, and then she moved to Quality Living Inc in Omaha, NE. Yvonne enjoyed living at QLI in Omaha for she was closer to home, the city life, shopping at Westroads Mall, attended the “Alabama” concert, and volunteered at the CHI Health Immanuel.
Yvonne enjoyed reading and loved tutoring children in reading, because she wanted them to have that opportunity to be a better reader.
Yvonne liked to learn about the Catholic faith because many of her friends were Catholic.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her twin sister Lavonne, grandparents Kenneth & Maxine Slingsby and John & Irene Holbrook.
Yvonne is survived by her parents Don & Connie Slingsby of Broken Bow, sister Stacy (Justin) Mason of North Platte, nephews Cole (Bailey) Mason and Brady Mason (Sara Somoza), great nephew Jedidiah Mason and great niece Lilah Mason. She is also survived by many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
