Students compete at MNAC, SWC conference speech tournaments

Area students put on their nicest dress clothes earlier this week to compete in the Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference (MNAC) and Southwest Conference (SWC) speech tournaments. Both conference competitions were held on Monday (March 9).

In MNAC team competition, Brady took home the the top spot scoring 212 points followed by Stapleton with 210. Arnold, Arthur County, Mullen, and Callaway rounded out the top six places respectively.

SWC team competition was led by Gothenburg, with the Swedes tallying 332 points. Minden placed second with 253, followed by Ogallala in third, Holdrege in fourth, and Broken Bow in fifth.

Teams now turn their attention to district competition, which takes place at sites across the state from March 14 to 21.
