Paul Martin Mills age 90 of Broken Bow, NE passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Brookestone View.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. Burial will follow in the Westerville Cemetery with Military Honors at 1:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Westerville Cemetery or the Broken Bow Library. A visitation and time to greet the family will be held on Monday, March 9th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Paul was born to Frank D. and Bertha Mills of Westerville, NE on March 26, 1935, in Broken Bow, NE. He was the youngest of six children. Paul attended Westerville Grade School and graduated from Westerville High School in 1953. He attended Kearney Teachers College and received his teacher’s certificate and taught school in the Sandhills. Until he joined the U S Army 1956 – 1958, upon returning home he taught Copsey Schools in Westerville.
Paul married Donna Cole on May 22, 1960, in Ansley. They were blessed with three children, Julie, Daniel, and Mark.
After marriage they moved to Sidney, NE where Paul taught for four years in Cheyenne, WY. The family moved to Merna, where he taught 6th grade for 29 years prior to retiring in 1997. In 1970, they moved to Mills Farm at Westerville. He returned to KSC to receive his Batchelor’s Degree.
Paul had an impeccable sense of humor and was always up for a prank. He loved to garden, watching and feeding the birds – especially Blue Birds. He loved his calves and dogs.
Paul was a member of the Odd Fellows. His love for God and family 1st. He loved his whole family.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife Donna, parents Frank & Bertha, brothers Harry
(Ardyth) Mills, Dana Mills, Wayne (Marvel) Mills, and Ted Mills.
Paul is survived by daughter Julie (Tim) Brewster, sons Daniel (Michelle) Mills, and
Mark Mills, grandchildren Cole Mills, Luke Mills, Skyler Hungerford, and Hannah
Hungerford, great-grandchildren Kaden and Benjamin Murer, a sister Sylvia Happold.
