Facts and figures flew all day Wednesday at the Broken Bow Middle School/High School Performing Arts Center Auditorium as 11 teams from 8 schools took up the competition to see who had the smarts to be crowned the Broken Bow Quiz Bowl Champions for 2026.
The gathered teams represented Arcadia, Arnold (two teams), Anslemo-Merna, Ansley, Broken Bow (two teams), Cozad, Gothenburg (two teams), and Sandhills Schools.
In the end, it was the Arnold Team #1 that went undefeated through the double-elimination tournament to arrive at the end of the competition with the champions plaque.

Broken Bow Team #1 navigated a difficult final three rounds for second place, taking their first loss of the day to Arnold #1 in round 17, defeating the third-place Arcadia team in the loser’s bracket 19th round, only to fall again to Arnold #1 in the 20th round of the competition.
With answers such as “confirmation bias,” “Reaganomics” and “3 x √5”, there were questions to challenge even the most experienced trivia master, and to cater to the specific expertise of each student.
The final question answered by Arnold to win the Broken Bow Quiz Bowl championship: “Shopping: Before a major winter storm hit, shoppers ran to the store and cleansed the shelves of items such as toilet paper so that later shoppers found nothing to buy. What economic term refers to a situation in which demand exceed supply, until there is no supply?” The answer, of course, was “Shortage”.
