Student Council 50/50 Raffle at Thursday Basket Ball Games to Support Broken Bow Food Pantry

The Broken Bow Student Council will be holding a 50/50 raffle in support of the Broken Bow Food Pantry during the high school basketball games versus Cozad on Thursday, February 12, starting at 4:30 PM.

According to Council Sponsor Rachelle Haines, the raffle is part of the Student Council’s annual community service project. Haines said the students have chosen a raffle fund raiser the last few years to increase the flexibility of their giving to the Food Pantry.

“We ask the food pantry what they need and if it’s money, then we donate money,” said Haines, “and if it’s items, then we go shopping at Grocery Kart and take those items to the food pantry.”

Tickets are $1.00 each, or $10 for an “arm length” of tickets. When asked whose arm was used for the number of tickets sold, Haines noted the students are instructed to “be generous” with their measurement.

The winner of Thursday evening’s drawing will receive half of the funds raised in the raffle. The other half of the money raised will be used to support the Broken Bow Food Pantry – an amount that will be further matched by the Student Council.

Tickets will be sold throughout the evening of sporting events at the BBPS in the Commons area, and by roving council members in the stands during games. The winning ticket of the Broken Bow Student Council 50/50 charity raffle supporting the Broken Bow Food Pantry will be announced during the third quarter of Thursday’s boy’s basketball game.
