Connecting community and projects is the mission of the Callaway Community Foundation. But they can’t do that without the support of generous funders from across Custer County. This Valentine’s Day, area residents are invited to take their sweetheart out to dinner, and support the Callaway Community Foundation Fund at the same time.
Tickets and tables are still available for the Heart of the Seven Valleys Gala. The event will be held Saturday, February 14 – Valentine’s Day – at the Callaway Community Center. Social hour and the silent auction start at 6:00 PM. Supper will be served at 7:00 PM, provided by Bubba’s Smoke Shack.
According to Foundation Member Corby Leeper, recent projects supported by the Callaway Foundation include donations to the Callaway Public Schools to improve the weight room and purchase band instruments, funding computer software for the Nigel Sprouse Memorial Library and Good Life Center, and a heating and air project for the Seven Valleys Museum
“A lot of little projects that, they’re not something that’s really visible,” said Leeper, “but it’s a lot of little things that add up.”
In addition to the silent auction, a live auction will follow dinner. Along with auction items such as pivot inspections and quarters of beef briskets, several great experiences will be up for sale, including airboat rides, tanking trips, football, hockey, and golf getaways, and a package to attend Callaway’s Seven Valleys Rodeo.
New for this year is a “punch cup” auction, with party-goers bidding for a chance to win one of several secret prizes valued from $50 to $350, hidden in a wrapped cup.
Tickets are $40 in advance or $320 for a table of eight. If tickets are still available the day of the event, they will increase to $45 each.
