Fair Board Meets for Pre-Holiday Planning Workshop

The Custer County Ag Society met for a Planning Workshop on December 17 at the Shooting Sports Building on the Custer County Fairgrounds. Board Member Mark Cardoza was the only member absent from the meeting.

Two primary items of business were on the table for the meeting when called to order at 5:09 PM: Establishment of committee membership for the upcoming year, and a more long-term, goal-setting activity.

Committees will see some leadership changes this year with newly elected Board members Andy Gibbons and Scotti Ross acting as chairs of the Building and Grounds and Human Resources Committees, respectively. Expect the ongoing focus on Fairgrounds financial matters to continue as the Budget and Finance Committee set goals of transparency and debt reduction.

The full committee list with objectives and members can be found below.

While the Ag Society set a three-year goal to be debt-free, longer term objectives will largely hinge on a needs assessment survey to be developed and distributed in the coming year. Based upon the results of this survey, objectives for future use and faigrounds improvements at three years and beyond will be more fully established.

The next regular meeting of the Custer County Ag Society will be Thursday, January 8 at 7:00 PM, at the Shooting Sports Building on the Custer County Fairgrounds.
