Emmett Johnson Headed to NFL

The Lincoln Journal Star and other news outlets are reporting that Nebraska running back Emmett Johnson will be leaving the Nebraska football program to play in the NFL.

The Nebraska running back on Friday declared his intention to turn pro with a lengthy social-media post and video thanking coaches, teammates and others who helped him along the way.

Johnson just completed the best regular season for a Husker rusher in a decade and earned Big Ten Running Back of the Year honors Thursday as the latest in a parade of accolades surely still in progress. He ran for 1,451 yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 games. His yards from scrimmage total (1,821) ranks second nationally and most among power-five rushers.
