Sweet Treats for a Good Cause – Kolaches and Scotcheroos Benefiting Prairie Pioneer Center

Ask someone from the coast about a kolache or a scotcheroo and you’re likely to get a funny look. But folks from around here know that these are some of the best treats to come from your grandma’s kitchen.

After reading about the stressful financial situation the Prairie Pioneer Center finds itself in, Janet Kalinowski knew she had a way to help.

On Wednesday, November 26, join the Prairie Pioneer Center for a Coffee and Kolache/Scotcheroo Benefit from 8:30 to 11:00 AM. Kalinowski will be donating the sweet treats on sale for just $3.00.

If you’re interested in kolaches or scotcheroos for dessert on Thanksgiving Thursday, plates of filled rolls and sticky-crispy confections can be ordered in advance.

A plate of kolaches or scotcheroos is $25 per dozen. The dozen kolaches will have a variety of flavors:  four each of peach, cherry, and apricot filling. Plates of more traditional poppy seed and/or prune filling can be ordered for $13 per half-dozen.

Orders will only be taken until Thursday, November 20. To order, go to the Prairie Pioneer Center’s Facebook Page. Place your order in the comments of the featured post at the top of the page.

All money from the sale of the kolaches and scotcheroos donated by Janet Kalinowski, as well as any further donations collected during the coffee and kolaches benefit event will go to the Prairie Pioneer Center.
