Custer County youth compete at National Pedal Pull Championships

MITCHELL, SD— After winning at the state level and qualifying for the National Pedal Pull Championships, three youth from the area made their way to Mitchell, South Dakota to compete this past Saturday.

Gus Goodner of Arnold pedaled in the boys 4 year old class, achieving a pull of 48.25″ good enough for the second place trophy. Fellow Nebraskan Austin Weaver was the only puller to go further, by 1.75″, for a full pull. Goodner is the son of Ben and Tiffine Goodner.

Saylor Foley of Merna represented Nebraska in the 8 year old girls class. Her pull of 36″ was a great effort at Nationals but wasn’t enough for a top five placement. She is the daughter of Shane and Tiffany Foley.

Kinsley Tucker of Callaway pedaled her legs to a pull of 20.10″ in the 9 year old girls class, just shy of the top five. She is the daughter of Preston and Alicia Tucker.

All three young competitors had a great time at the Corn Palace and made new friends among those coming from 15 states to compete.
