Cindy was born June 5, 1957 in Sargent, NE to Darlene and the late Gaylord Wolsleben. Cindy attended Sargent High school and graduated in 1976. She married the love of her life, Mark Larsen, on May 29, 1976. They moved to Mullen, NE after they were married and lived in a sod house on a ranch, where she loved being a house wife, cooking and baking. She adored her horse Boots and St. Bernard Luke. They moved to Broken Bow in 1977. Cindy wanted to buy a new car so she began working at BD in August 1978 and was proud to purchase a 1978 blue Fairmont. Family was important to Mark and Cindy, and they had four children: Mike, Brandi, Bobbi, and Adam.
Cindy was a devout Christian and her faith in God and love of Jesus was an important part of her everyday life. She baked snacks for the children’s group, God’s Army. She enjoyed riding the motorcycle with Mark, and traveled with him to Sturgis for 27 years. Cindy said, “Dad opened a new world with the bike: sights, ass-to-nose smells, sunrises, sunsets, so much I would have never seen if not on the back of a bike.” Cindy’s grandchildren were the highlight of her life, and she enjoyed traveling with them all over Nebraska, teaching them about history and visiting many landmarks and museums. Cindy was an amazing baker and many will remember her Christmas cookies, a tradition began at the request of her father, which she started baking every year in June. Cindy volunteered for 14 years as an EMT with Broken Bow Rescue Squad, was a Girl Scout leader for 3 years and a Boy Scout leader for 1 year. Cindy retired in 2022, after 43 years and 10 months of service at BD. Mark and Cindy will always be thankful for Dr. Luke who is the reason Cindy was able to fight her cancer so long and Mark was able to see her through it.
Cindy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mark Larsen. Mother Darlene Wolsleben of Broken Bow. Sisters Donna (Roger) Wenquist of Broken Bow, Linda Wolsleben, Denver, CO, Vicki (Lyle) Hendrickson of Omaha, NE, sister-in-law Maxine Wolsleben of Lexington, NE.
