Construction project adding turn lanes to Ryno, Callaway roads off Highway 2 underway

BROKEN BOW – A construction project that is bringing turn lanes off of Highway 2 west of Broken Bow onto Ryno and Callaway road as well as Memorial Drive is well underway.

Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) Highway Project Manager Daniel Lewandowski told KCNI/KBBN this past spring that the turning lane project would be the unofficial beginning point of the revitalization of the road project on Highway 2 between Broken Bow and Merna.

Myers Construction has been tasked with the start of the project, removing cement shoulders and adding fill dirt along the highway while also removing guard rails from the bridge between the Broken Bow golf course and driving range. NDOT and Paulsen Inc. will join in on the project sometime soon.

So far, traffic arms and signals have been used to control the flow of traffic in addition to a traffic director at the intersection of the highway with Callaway Road/Memorial Drive.

This project west of Broken Bow comes on the heels of the project on Highway 2 inside the Broken Bow city limits that is being wrapped up with sidewalk height adjustments and painting.
