Quilt Guild to host trunk show featuring Grand Island quilter

BROKEN BOW – The Custer’s Last Stitch Quilt Guild is inviting the public to a special evening celebrating the artistry of quilting. Monday night, the guild will host a trunk show featuring the work of Julie Lechner, a quilter from Grand Island. The event will be held from 7 to 9 PM at the Broken Bow Library and is free to attend. Refreshments will be provided.

Sponsored by the Nebraska State Quilt Guild, the event will showcase Lechner’s unique quilting style through a display of her handcrafted works—likely 15 to 20 or more—including pieces that feature techniques such as appliqué and free-motion quilting.

“She’s going to show us some of her fabulous quilts that she’s made,” said Teri Buhlmann, president of the Custer’s Last Stitch Quilt Guild. “People will get to see all kinds of things… and we might have a few quilts from our quilt guild show up, too.”

The guild encourages both experienced quilters and beginners to attend. “Don’t be afraid to come and learn,” Buhlmann added. “We have lots of people in our guild that will be willing to show you.”

The group meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 PM at the Broken Bow Library, and encourages membership from all beginner and veteran quilters.
