Broken Bow Juniors Fall to Holdrege at Area Tournament

The Broken Bow American Legion Juniors baseball team saw its season come to an end on Monday as they fell to Holdrege in the elimination bracket of the B6 Area tournament. Holdrege used two big innings to pull away for the win. The game was tied 1-1 after the first inning.  Broken Bow took the lead with a big third inning as they sent 10 men to the plate and scored four runs to take a 5-1 lead. However, Holdrege responded quickly with an eight run 4th inning to retake the lead. After scoring two runs in the sixth, Holdrege put the game away with an eight run seventh inning on their way to a 19-6 win. Carter Hall and Aiden Page each finished with multi-hit games for Broken Bow. Hall finished 2 for 4 with a run scored and Page was 2 for 4 with a run scored. The Broken Bow juniors finish the season at 16-9 overall. Holdrege advances to the tournament championship round where they will play McCook on Tuesday for the title. McCook remained unbeaten in tournament play by eliminating Alliance on Monday 9-4. McCook needs one more win to claim the area tournament title while Holdrege would have to beat McCook twice to be declared champion.
