Custer, Cherry County 4-H youth attend 2025 CWF conference

Forty 4-H youth, ages 15-19, from Cherry and Custer Counties recently participated in the 2025 CWF Conference. The week-long program in Washington, D.C. is hosted by National 4-H Council for youth from across the country. Nebraska 4-H in Custer and Dawson Counties also assisted.

The delegation was accompanied by six adult chaperones, departing for the East Coast on June 1 traveling by chartered bus. Tours and visits to Chicago, Niagara Falls, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. took place before returning to Nebraska on June 15.

Goals of the program were accomplished through:
– A look behind the scenes at the nation’s Capitol, with a chance to meet senators and representatives
– Motivational speakers, workshops, and assemblies that increase individual commitment to citizen involvement and build lifetime skills for success
– Activities that encouraged new and lasting friendships
– An enthusiastic collegiate staff that worked with the youth daily
– Fitness and fun

Personal payments from delegates and 4-H fundraising activities from the last two years funded the trip.
