Area artists fare well at 60th ANAC Conference

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – The 60th Association of Nebraska Art Clubs (ANAC) Conference was held in North Platte in early June at Mid-Plains Community College’s south campus. Several area artists found success at the conference.

A unique-to-Nebraska event, ANAC includes 34 art clubs that have their own shows before descending on each year’s host community. This year’s show featured 280 pieces, judged by Behmaz Ahmadian from Colorado, who also taught a mixed media workshop all three days of the conference.

Patricia Coslor’s watercolor Tuscan Garden won Honorable Mention

Several area artists left ANAC with awards. Tresa Haney of Oconto will have an acrylic titled ‘Pickup’ travel the state as it was among the 24 chosen to do so in receiving an Award of Excellence. Haney also received Honorable Mention for her painted ostrich egg, joined by Sargent artest Patricia Coslor’s watercolor ‘Tuscan Garden’ and Daniel Smith’s oil ‘Reflection’. Linda Teahon of Dunning and the Thedford Art Guild received Honorable Mention for her metal photo titled ‘Heads Up’.

Other area artists exhibiting were Arrow Artists Mary Smith and Lane Chesley of Callaway, Thedford Art Guild members Bec Ray, Megan and Terri Licking, and Mullen Art Center members Kyle Hoyt, Twila Phillips, and Nicole Hoffmann.

Dave Dorsey of Valentine took home Best of Show for an acrylic painting titled ‘Barn Swallow’.

The 2026 ANAC conference will be held June 10-13 in Ogallala.

 

Nicole Hoffmann brought and displayed Mullen Art Center winning art. She will lead ANAC for the next two years as president.
Linda Teahon, Dunning received Honorable Mention with her photo on metal titled Head’s Up. She is a member of the Thedford Art Guild.
