It was a light docket in Custer County Court on Monday, June 23rd.
Casey M. Hall, age 47 of Ravenna, appeared for a preliminary hearing in his case. Hall is charged with ten felony counts of possession of child pornography. Earlier this month, Hall’s case was continued as he was contesting the State’s probable cause. On Monday, after hearing testimony from the Nebraska State Patrol investigator in the case, Judge Tami Schendt ruled that she believed a crime was committed and that the defendant likely committed the crime. The case was then bound over to Custer County District Court and Hall is scheduled to appear on July 24th at 9:30.
Also appearing for a preliminary hearing on Monday was Jennifer L. Nielsen, age 50 of Broken Bow. In March of this year, Nielsen was charged with two felony counts–theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception, all allegedly occurring from 2012 to June 2024. On Monday, the State filed an amended complaint in the case alleging the thefts occurred from 2021 to June 2024, and dismissed Count II, theft by deception. Nielsen waived her right to a preliminary hearing and her case was bound over to Custer County District Court for an appearance on July 24th.
