ANSELMO- Anselmo’s Big Sky Jubilee will happen June 13, 14, and 15 with the theme Under the Big Top.
The Jubilee starts on Friday with the Mark Wells Memorial BBQ Pitmaster Challenge. Judging will start at 5 p.m. At 6, it’s the Calcutta, and at 7, it’s the BBQ, with the winners to be announced.
K Arrow Acres Funny Farms opens their farm to the public from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., located at 43384 Rd 820, Anselmo, Nebraska. Some animals that can be seen are kangaroos, llamas, miniature donkeys, and more.
Jump-a-Roo bounce houses will be up at the ballfield from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. They will have hot dogs, chips, water, and popsicles for the kids.
Saturday begins with a one-mile or 5k Run/Walk starting at the ballfield at 7:45 a.m. The pancake feed, put on by the Anselmo-Merna School Board, will start at 8 a.m. Sand Volleyball will start at 9 a.m. To participate, contact Ben at (308) 880-0368.
The parade check-in and line-up will be at the ballfield at 10 a.m., and the parade will start on Main Street at 11. Registration parade forms can be found at The Market and Mill or on the Big Sky Jubilee Facebook page.
Food vendors will open at 11:30 a.m., including The Secret Garden, Never Fales Burger Bus, and Madi’s Ice Oasis. The Anselmo United Methodist Church fundraiser lunch will be in the library. They will serve free-will donation sloppy joes and hot dogs with pie and ice cream for dessert.
Starting at noon is the adult tractor and truck pull at the old school yard. Also opening up at noon are Rock-It Events and Axe Kickers. Kid Races and Games will take place west of the Firehall at 1:30. A member of the Big Sky Committee said that there will be volunteers to watch the kids.
“[The volunteers] have decided that they want to help us out by looking after the little ones. So that frees us up and the parents up a little bit to enjoy the day as well.”
The scavenger hunt will start at 2:30 on the north side of the Market and Mill, with popsicles available. At the 1886 Good Time Saloon, the Anselmo-Merna Wrestling Team will put on a cornhole tournament. For more information, contact Jake Wells at (308) 880-0819. Nebraska Putt Putt Miniature Golf will be at the fire hall all day.
Check-in for the Mid Nebraska Pedal Pullers Tractor Pull and the Turtle Races will start at 3:30. The turtle races will start at 4:00, and the pedal tractor pull will follow at 4:30.
The Fireman’s BBQ and Watermelon Feed will begin at 5 p.m. at the Firehall. New this year, at 6 p.m., the beer garden will open, and at 7 p.m., the street dance with live music by Kyle Sayler Band.
On Sunday is the Ranch Rodeo. The Calcutta starts at 12:30 and the Rodeo starts at 1 p.m.
Big Sky t-shirts will be available for $18 at the Market and Mill. They have youth and adult sizes with the same design as last year.
