Large burn to be held at Custer County Fairgrounds on Thursday

In an effort to avoid possible alarm, the Custer County Ag Society is informing the public of a planned burn at the fairgrounds in Broken Bow on Thursday.

The fire, which will begin around 7 AM, will burn a large debris pit according to Ag Society board member Mark Cardoza. The fire will be on the west end of the fairgrounds.

Fires similar to the burn planned at the Custer County Fairgrounds are expected to be seen more frequently following the expiration of the governor’s burn ban for the region. Several fire departments, including Broken Bow, have announced that they will resume issuing burn permits. The campfire ban has also been lifted at all Nebraska state parks and wildlife management areas.
