Chemigation permit renewal deadline quickly approaching

A recent release from the Lower Loup Natural Resources District (LLNRD) is reminding farmers planning to use chemigation (fertigation) to apply fertilizer or other chemicals of a June 1 permit renewal deadline.

The cost of each renewal application submitted is $30, with applications received after June 1 being treated as new applications requiring a $100 fee and inspection by a LLNRD technician.

Both new and renewal permits expire the June after the year they were issued. Chemigation permits issued in 2024 will expire on June 1, 2025. Emergency permits are $500 and expire after 45 days.

Applications are available at the LLNRD headquarters in Ord, at Natural Resources Conservation Service office, or at LLNRD.org.

Those seeking more information are encouraged to contact the Lower Loup NRD at 308-728-3221.
