Recap of April 21st Custer County Court Felony Cases

Appearing in Custer County Court for a status hearing on Monday, April 21st, was Jennifer L. Nielsen, age 50 of Broken Bow. Matthew Furrow, Nielsen’s attorney, requested the Court continue the hearing as both he and the State are waiting on additional information. Judge Schendt allowed the request and the hearing was continued to May 19th at 3:00 p.m. On March 24th of this year, Nielsen made her first appearance in County Court. She is charged with theft by unlawful taking ($1,500 or more), a felony, and theft by deception ($1,500 or more), also a felony. Authorities allege Nielsen stole thousands of dollars from the Central Nebraska Medical Clinic over 12 years.

Also on Monday’s docket was State v. Brandon J. Fewkes. Robert Lindemeier, attorney for Fewkes, filed a waiver of a preliminary hearing and the case was bound over to Custer County District Court. Fewkes, age 39 of Broken Bow, was charged in February of this year with 3rd degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor; felony terroristic threats; felony use of a weapon to commit a felony; and felony child abuse.
