Litchfield teacher to be presented ‘Touchdown for Teachers’ recognition

Allison Varah, the art and yearbook teacher at Litchfield Public Schools, has been named as one of the recipients of the ‘Touchdown for Teachers’ award. Sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletics, the award recognizes educators who help Nebraska’s students reach their full potential.

As stated during the award announcement, Varah was invited to this Saturday’s Husker Volleyball spring match against Kansas to be recognized “in front of all of Husker nation”.

In a social media post, Varah thanked the community for letting her be their art teacher while praising her fellow teachers at Litchfield.

“In Litchfield alone there are teachers who keep giving and giving and giving to the kids. They give their time, they share their passion, they nurture the lifelong learner. To our teachers at Litchfield, Ansley, and all over Nebraska: thank you for what you do..,” said Varah.

Nominations for the Touchdown for Teachers award were submitted statewide by students, parents, and community members through an online entry form asking for information about teachers who have gone above and beyond to support their students and improve communities across Nebraska.
