Road work through Broken Bow on Highway 2 set to start Monday

Those traveling through Broken Bow will need to bring their patience starting Monday, March 24 as road work is set to begin on Highway 2 through town, weather permitting. Highway 21 south of town and Highway 70 to the east will also be a part of the work completed.

Work will span Highway 2 west of town east of the Ryno Road turnoff through Broken Bow to the east just past the Sandhills Journey Scenic Byway Visitors Center.

Distances of work on Highway 21 and Highway 70 will cover less than a mile of distance each.

Road work will be on Highway 2 through Broken Bow, south of Broken Bow on Highway 21, and east of Broken Bow on Highway 70

Paulsen Inc. of Cozad is the contractor for the project, which will include concrete pavement repair, storm sewer, lighting, concrete paving, milling, and asphalt overlay. Traffic will be maintained with traffic shifts, temporary traffic signals, and a pilot car and flaggers. On-street parking will be affected during construction and a 10-foot width restriction will be in effect.

Anticipated completion for this project is September 2025. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
