City Council to discuss BRAN, stop signs back on agenda Tuesday

New and repeat subjects are ahead for the Broken Bow City Council tonight during their meeting, which starts at 6 PM at the Municipal Building in Broken Bow.

Before new business items get underway, Emergency Services Department head David Baltz will give an update, followed by an update from Electrical Superintendent Blake Waldow.

To open new business, council will consider designating the BRAN host community event on June 3 as an official city special event.

Tonight’s meeting will close with a revisiting to the subject of stop signs and speed limits in ordinances 1295, 1296, 1297, and 1298. At the March 3 meeting, the three readings of each ordinance were not waived, indicating the desire for discussion and public hearings in more meetings before a decision is made.

Stop signs considered for placement in ordinances 1295, 1296, and 1297 (pictures at end of story):

  • North side of the South 8th Avenue and South D Street intersection
  • North and south side of the South 6th Avenue and South C Street intersection
  • North and south side of the South 7th Avenue and South C Street intersection
  • Four way stop signs at the South 6th Avenue and South D Street intersection
  • Four way stop signs at the South 7th Avenue and South D Street intersection
  • North and south side of the North 9th Avenue and North H Street intersection

Ordinance 1298 would increase the speed limit to 25 MPH from 15 MPH for the entirety of South B Street west of South 10th Avenue, the street that runs from the corner near the former Gary’s Super Foods west to Tomahawk Park.
