The Sandhills/Thedford boys basketball team saw its season come to an end Wednesday night at the D2-2 district final falling to Wausa 73-41. It was Sandhills/Thedford who jumped out early scoring the first five points of the game and led 7-2 as Ross Martindale scored the first seven points for the Knights. Wausa came back to lead 22-10 at the end of the first quarter and led 37-16 at the half on their way to securing the district title. The Knights were led in scoring by Aaron Hall who came off the bench to score a team high 10 points. Sandhills/Thedford concludes the season at 12-13 while Wausa improves to 23-3 and advances to the boys state tournament next week in Lincoln.
Two other D2 district finals were played on Wednesday. Archangels Catholic defeated Medicine Valley 52-32 and Fullerton defeated Garden County 48-29. Other district final scores, in Class D1 Dundy County Stratton defeated East Butler 54-50. In Class C2, West Holt knocked off GICC 41-38 and Archbishop Bergan defeated Norfolk Catholic 51-44. In Class C1, Fillmore Central edged Auburn in overtime 58-55. In Class B, Lincoln Pius X defeated Crete 51-37.
