MNAC Basketball Tournament is Underway – AM, S/T, Mullen, Brady Advance to Girls Semis

The semifinals are set for the Mid Nebraska Activities Conference girls basketball tournament. The top four seeds advanced to the semifinal round. Top seed Anselmo-Merna advanced with a 60-21 win over Sandhills Valley. AM had three players finish in double figures led by Makenna Miller who had a game high 17 points. Rhianen Myers finished with 16 and Lily Thornton had 11 for the Lady Coyotes. Sandhills Valley was led by Avery Weems who finished with a team high 8 points. Anselmo-Merna will face Sandhills/Thedford in the semifinals. The Lady Knights defeated Arthur County 50-17 to advance. S/T was led by Laney Dahlberg who had a game high 17 points. Also finishing in double figures for S/T was Karley Haake with 14. On the other side of the bracket, the #2 seed Mullen advanced with a 45-10 win over South Loup. Nine players scored for Mullen led by Riley Hegland who finished with a game high 11 points. The Broncos will face #3 seed Brady in the semifinals. The Lady Eagles held off Twin Loup 47-37 to advance. Brady was led by Taryn Stearns who had a team high 17 points and Payton Stienike finished in double figures for the Eagles with 15. Twin Loup was led by Madison Glidden who finished with a game high 20 points.

The MNAC girls semifinals will take place Thursday afternoon at North Platte Community College. Mullen will play Brady at 3 p.m. followed by Anselmo-Merna vs Sandhills/Thedford at 4:30. The MNAC semifinals will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM with a live video stream, accompanied by the radio call, available through sandhillsexpress.com.

The Mid Nebraska Activities Conference basketball tournament continues today with opening round games in the boys tournament.  Games will take place in Stapleton and Arnold.  Games in Stapleton begin with #4 seed Anselmo-Merna vs #5 seed Sandhills/Thedford at 5:30 followed by top seed Sandhills Valley vs Brady at 7 p.m.  Games in Arnold begin with #3 seed Twin Loup vs #6 seed Mullen at 5:30 followed by #2 seed South Loup vs Arthur County at 7 p.m.  Today’s games from Arnold will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.  A live video stream of today’s games in Arnold, accompanied by the radio call, will also be available through sandhillsexpress.com on the Sandhills Express Facebook page and Sandhills Express You Tube Channel.
