South Loup and Sandhills Valley Win MNAC Team Wrestling Championship

Sandhills/Thedford hosted its boys and girls wrestling invitationals on Saturday in Dunning. The meet also doubled as the MNAC wrestling championship tournament. Central Valley was the team champion of the boys invitational with 198 points followed by Cambridge in second and North Platte St. Pat’s was third. South Loup finished with 68 points which was the most of all teams representing the Mid Nebraska Activities Conference as the Bobcats claimed the MNAC conference championship. Mullen was the second highest scoring MNAC team with 63.5 points and Anselmo-Merna was third in the MNAC standings. Sandhills Valley claimed the girls MNAC team title with 47 points followed by Sandhills/Thedford with 31 points. Summerland won the girls invite team title with 104.5 points followed by Central Valley in second.

Among the area individual highlights, Dawson Mason of South Loup was champion at 132 lbs. Isaac O’Brien of Ansley/Litchfield claimed the title at 175 lbs. and Caden Zutavern of Sandhills/Thedford won the title at 285 lbs. Those from the KCNI/KBBN coverage area who finished runner up in their weight class included Ethan Rabou of Sandhills/Thedford at 190 lbs. and Andy Cash of Ansley/Litchfield was runner up at 285 lbs. On the girls side, Sandhills Valley had two individual champions. Saije Phelps was champion at 125 lbs. and Mariah Duran was champion at 155 lbs.
