The Broken Bow School Board will gather for a regular meeting tonight at the Broken Bow Library beginning at 6 PM.
Among opening procedures will be the election of officers to begin the 2025 calendar year, before previous meeting minute approval, the treasurer’s report, and the claims report.
Several discussion and action items are noted in the agenda for tonight’s meeting, including:
- Negotiations
- Designating a law firm
- Designating a financial institution
- Policy changes
- Policy review
Policy Changes
Meetings: Defines that the board shall hold its regular meetings on or before the third Monday of each month, that special and emergency meetings may be called as provided by law, and that the board may schedule work sessions and retreats in order to provide members and admin the opportunity to plan, research, and engage in discussion. In addition, the policy defines a procedure if the newspaper is finalized for printing prior to the time and date of the meeting and if the newspaper will not be finalized for printing prior to the time and date of the meeting. Definitions of weather delays are also defined in the policy.
Fiscal Management for Purchasing and Procurement using Federal Funds: Applies to non-construction related purchases undertaken with federal funds. This policy defines responsibility for purchasing, methods for purchasing, the use of debit and credit cards, and other purchasing guidelines.
Policy Review
Drones and Unmanned Aircraft: States that drones and unmanned aircraft systems cannot be operated on or above district property without the prior written permission of the superintendent or designee. Authorized use must comply with state and federal regulations.
Devices: Defines protocol for new devices and applications provided by teachers for use in their classroom to improve the student experience and increase learning. The district wants to embrace the helpful elements of technology advancement while also remaining mindful of potential student privacy issues.
Nondiscrimination: Definitions of the school district’s pursuit of not discriminating on the basis of prohibited factors in employment and educational programs and activities.
Naming school facilities and property: Explains authority, definition, review, and criteria for naming and renaming school district facilities or property.
