The National Weather Service (NWS) office in North Platte has issued a dense fog advisory from 6 PM Thursday evening to 9 AM Friday morning for portions of south and north central Nebraska.
Visibility is expected to be down to 1/4 mile at times, creating very poor driving conditions. Additionally, some slick spots are possible if fog freezes on exposed surfaces below freezing.
When driving in dense fog, NWS reminds Nebraskans that you have little time to see hazards or other vehicles in the road. At highway speeds, you only have a few seconds to react to objects that become visible in the road. Slower speeds, keeping distance between yourself and the vehicle ahead of you, and use of your headlights are all highly encouraged.
