The Custer County Foundation (CCF) held its 20th annual gala and auction this past Saturday at the One Box Convention Center in Broken Bow. The evening has been deemed a success, with preliminary numbers showing that over $200,000 was raised. The foundation expressed thanks to the businesses and individuals throughout the county that made it possible to have the event be successful.

Arriving guests had the opportunity to purchase playing cards for $10 each out of four decks. One card was drawn and four lucky winners won cash prizes donated by Muddy Creek Ag ($250), Arrow Aviation, Casey & Melissa Williams ($500), Performance Plus ($750), and Edward Jones, Gateway Motors, and Palmer Monument ($1,000).

Tristan Berggren beat out the competition in the ever-popular “Heads or Tails” game, winning $500 by choosing heads or tails correctly more than anyone in the room.

The raffle drawing for the Polaris side-by-side or an $8,000 travel voucher with $1,000 cash took place, sponsored by Ag-Land ATV and the Custer County Foundation Ag Boosters. Joey Lentell was the winning name drawn by past executive director Lindsay Cook, taking the Polaris.

Outgoing board members Alicia Hermsmeyer and Julie Johnson were honored along with past executive director Lindsay Cook, all receiving a standing ovation for their years of service to the Custer County Foundation.

The evening was yet again a true reflection that the Custer County Foundation is a county-wide organization through auction items donated and guests attending. Proceeds will be incorporated into the funds of the CCF and returned to Custer County in the form of grants for charitable organizations and scholarships for non-traditional students.

The Custer County Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization that was created in 1991 to promote charitable giving for the good of the communities of Custer County. The steady growth of the Foundation is driven by donors’ generosity, and ideas and beliefs that the Custer County Foundation can make a difference in the lives of the people who live and work in Custer County. The Foundation exists because of people who have a desire to give back to the community where they lived, prospered, worked and played.
