BROKEN BOW – The Custer County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday morning at the courthouse in Broken Bow starting at 9 AM.
Two bid openings were on Tuesday’s agenda, for bridge replacement projects and Sheriff’s patrol vehicles.
Sheriff Dan Osmond told the board that he put out a request for bids on SUVs as well as pickup trucks, needing to replace the current K9 vehicle which is a pickup. He stated the SUV bid was for the K9 unit, while the truck bid was to gauge the market and see what prices come in for a quickly approaching second vehicle replacement.
The Board of Supervisors opened bids from Ranchland Ford, Gregg Young Automotive Group, and Gateway Motors. Ultimately, the board approved the purchase of a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Package 4×4 from Gateway Motors in the amount of $52,500 with $15,000 trade value (a difference of $37,500) with all votes of ‘yes’ outside of one ‘no’ from Dwain Bryner.
Osmond said he was pleasantly surprised with the bid amounts that came in for pickups, citing their prices being well over $10,000 not that long ago. All of those bids were rejected so that Osmond could re-bid with different options to try to bring price down more.
Material bids for four country bridge replacement projects were opened by the board on Tuesday. The projects are abbreviated as Ansley South, Callaway Southwest, Anselmo Southeast, and Broken Bow West. The lowest bid for all four projects, $168,683.45 from Ace/Eaton Metals was accepted unanimously.
In other agenda items, the board unanimously approved signing of the year end certification of the highway superintendent, which results in a $9,700 incentive payment for having a licensed individual in the position.
One application to cross right-of-way was approved for Custer Public Power District for underground power line to go under the Arnold River Road.
Also approved were Resolution #30A-2024 (amend levies for Custer County fiscal year 2024-2025) and Resolution #32-2024 (issuing county tax sales certificates).
Tuesday’s meeting adjourned at 10:42 AM.
