Broken Bow School Board Meets on Friday, October 25th

The Broken Bow School Board met for a regular meeting at noon on Friday, October 25th, at the Broken Bow Public Library. All members were present with the exception of Mary Shaw who was excused.

It was reported during the treasurer’s and claim report that, to-date, expenses are less than one year ago. An audit of the last fiscal year will be presented during a November meeting.

Under district accolades, Superintendent Tobey reported that FFA members are currently at their national convention in Indianapolis, that the FBLA claimed first place at the recent Wildcat Business Invitational at Wayne State College, and that the Broken Bow Marching Band received a superior at a recent event. Tobey praised the new band instructor, adding that there are currently 32 sixth graders in band and fifth graders will start band during the second semester.

During administrator comments, Mr. Tobey provided some updates on the construction project and said future tour dates of the facility would be announced as work progressed.

Under discussion and action items, several policies were reviewed and all were approved as amended. A request to use $4,000 from the Anderson Grant was made and approved by the board. The funds will be used to help cover costs of Broken Bow FBLA students who will attend the National Fall Leadership Conference being held in Columbus, Ohio, in November.

The Broken Bow School Board will meet for a work session on Monday, November 4th at 6:00 at the Broken Bow Public Library. Their next regular meeting will be at the library on Monday, November 18th, also at 6:00 p.m.
