South Loup and Perkins County gather together after their playoff game

The opening round of the Class D1 and D2 state football playoffs took place Thursday around the state.  South Loup advanced to the round of 16 in the D1 playoff bracket with a 22-14 win over Perkins County.  Perkins County handed South Loup one of its two regular season losses this year but the rematch went the way of the Bobcats.  South Loup scored first on a 61 yard touchdown pass from Dylan Pandorf to Ethan Furne with 6:12 remaining in the 2nd quarter to make the score 8-0 which was the score at the half.  The Bobcats would extend the lead to 16-0 on an 11 yard touchdown run by Conner Paulsen in the 3rd quarter.  After Perkins County cut the lead to 16-6, Dylan Pandorf came up with a critical interception which he returned to inside the PC 5 yard line to set up Conner Paulsen’s second touchdown run of the night to put the Bobcats up 22-6.  Perkins County scored late in the 4th to make it a one possession game but South Loup recovered the onside kick to hang on for a 22-14 win and improve their overall record to 7-2 and advance to the next round of the playoffs where they will play at Summerland on 11/1
