Brackets Released for Class D1 and D2 Playoffs

The NSAA has released the state football playoff brackets for Class D1 and D2. The playoffs for the two 8 man football classes begin Thursday (10/24). For the First Round of the playoffs, the 32 qualifying teams will be placed on two 16-team brackets. Beginning with the school located the farthest west, schools to the east will be added unitl the pre-determined number of schools (16) for each bracket is reached. North and South distances will not be considered. The 16 teams on each bracket will be seeded 1 through 16 by the point system and the point system tie breaker. The sixteen first round winning teams will then be re-seeded 1 through 16 on a statewide bracket using the regular season point system and point system tie breaker.

South Loup is the #8 seed on the west side of the Class D1 bracket. The Bobcats finished the regular season at 6-2 and will host 6-2 Perkins County in the opening round. Sandhills Valley qualified for the D1 state playoffs. The Mavericks (3-5) will face the #2 seed on the west side of the bracket, Pleasanton in the first round.

In Class D2, the defending state champs, Sandhills/Thedford, are the #2 seed on the west side of the bracket.  The undefeated Knights will host Maxwell in the opening round.  Mullen qualified for the D2 playoffs.  The Broncos finished the regular season at 6-2 and are the 7th seed on the west side of the bracket.  Mullen will host 4-4 Axtell in the first round.  Twin Loup made the D2 playoff field.  The Wolves will be the #16 seed on the west side of the bracket and will play at top seed Loomis in the opening round.
