Day one of the NSAA girls golf state championships took place Monday. The Class C tournament is taking place at the Lake Maloney Golf Club outside North Platte. Two Minden golfers are tied at the top of the individual leader board after day one. Kara Suchsland and KayLynn Jorgensen each shot a low round of 5 over par 77. Minden leads in the team standings after day one by six shots over second place Wayne.
Broken Bow’s Molly Custer is tied for 12th overall after an opening round of 89. One of the highlights from Molly’s round included four straight pars on holes 5 thru 8 which helped her get back on track after a tough start to her round. Sister Brynn Custer is currently tied for 21st after day one with an opening round of 93 which is just two shots outside the top 15 for a state medal. Brynn shot a 48 on the front nine then a 45 on the back highlighted by pars on 11, 12, and 16.
The final round of the Class C state tournament on Tuesday will be delayed due to forecasted frost. Brynn Custer is scheduled to tee off hole #1 at 11:51 a.m. and Molly Custer is scheduled to tee off hole #1 at 12:18.
