The fall season is in full swing and the Broken Bow Library has prepared an October calendar full of entertaining and educating activities and events.
Library Director Megan Svoboda told KCNI/KBBN that visitors of the library should be aware of some changes to hours due to staff training as well as holidays the 9th through the 14th.
October 9: 9AM to 4:30 PM
October 10: 2 PM to 6 PM
October 11: 9 AM to 5:30 PM
October 12: CLOSED
October 14: CLOSED
Toys and tots story time continues into the new month, as does lapsit story time for kids ages newborn to Pre-K. The library’s six week shark camp also continues on the 8th and 15th.
Throughout the library, Halloween pictures are hiding along with a secret letter. After getting a sheet from the front desk, visitors can spell out the mystery sentence and bring the completed sheet back for a prize.
A gathering to create spooky apothecary bottles is set for October 22 at 5:15 PM, just in time for Halloween decorating.
Later in the month, teens are invited to the library for the free Teen Halloween Zombie Prom from 6 to 9 PM on the 25th. 6th through 12th graders are invited to the costume dance party in appropriate costumes or zombie makeup. A zombie makeup bite station will also be available along with snacks, games, and a DJ.
“Basically it’s just a costume party for the teens to come to the library and eat some food, dance, and get a little wild I guess,” said Svoboda.
On the final Tuesday of the month, the library is helping out with the sourdough craze with a beginner sourdough class. Svoboda said the class will go for an hour or so starting at 6 PM, “At this class it’s ten dollars, but what the ten dollars gets you is you get the jar, your starter jar, and basically it’ll be an active starter after you take the class and you’ll get tips on how to care for it, what’s worked and what hasn’t.”
Many more activities are happening at the Broken Bow Library throughout the month, which you can read about in their newsletter here: OCT2024newsletter
