Cozad hosted its annual cross country invitational on Saturday. Broken Bow won the girls team championship followed by Sidney in second and Cozad was third. Among the area highlights, Ashylyn Schauda of Broken Bow was runner up in a time of 20:42.9. The individual girls champion was Brenna Benjamin of Holdrege in a winning time of 19:57.5. Broken Bow placed six runners in the top 15. Jaycee Staples was 8th (22:47.2), Dacie Henderson was 10th (22:58.8), Genesis Guevara was 11th (23:07.7), Maydee Guevara was 13th (23:17.8) and Gaby Staples was 15th (23:39). Ella Cool of South Loup finished in the top five placing fourth in a time of 21:23.8 and Ivy Tullis of South Loup was also in the top ten finishing 6th (22:13.3). Ani Trimble of Sandhills Valley placed in the top 20 finishing 19th (24:10.2)
On the boys side, Holdrege was the team champion followed by Cozad in 2nd. Broken Bow was 4th in the boys standings and South Loup was 5th. Christophe Taylor of Holdrege was the individual champion in a winning time of 17:12.1. Among the area highlights, Broken Bow placed two runners in the top 20 led by Jackson Hansen who was 11th (18:28.1) and Logan Bell was 16th (18:46.4). South Loup placed two runners in the top 20 led by Jaden Bush who was 15th (18:39.9) and Josiah Coleman was 17th (18:54). Keith Morash of Sandhills Valley placed in the top 20 finishing 19th (19:03.7)
