A donation program founded to fill backpacks and food shelves in Custer County is back for its 6th iteration. The Food 4 Youth Challenge, organized by Adams Land & Cattle, starts on Monday September 9 and runs through Wednesday September 25.
Last year’s Food 4 Youth campaign collected over 6,750 snacks and meals as well as over $6,044 in gift cards and monetary donations to support the future needs of Custer County backpack programs and food pantries. Organizers are hitting the ground running in hopes of surpassing those numbers.
Accepted items that can be dropped off at donation sites include:
Monetary Donations
– Checks made out to the Custer County Foundation, specifying the “Food 4 Youth” fund. Donations will be evenly distributed between the schools and programs
Food (Preferably no glass items)
– Canned items.. ravioli, soup, vegetables, fruit, etc.
– Boxed foods.. macaroni, pasta, cereal, hamburger helper, jello, snack bars/pop-tarts, fruit snacks, etc.
– Peanut butter
