Several schools across the state, including in the KCNI/KBBN listening area, will be offering free school meals to their students for this school year through the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
A Nebraska Department of Education program, CEP uses information from other programs including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Temporary Assistance Program for Needy Families (TANF), making traditional paper applications unnecessary. Free, nutritious meals are then offered to all students through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
Schools from the area approved for and participating in CEP for this school year include Thedford Public Schools, Ansley Public Schools, Mullen Public Schools, Arnold Public Schools, and Loup County Public Schools. A total of 47 schools are on the list of CEP schools for 2024-2025 across Nebraska.
