SORC begins today with Loup 2 Loup Race

HALSEY- The first day of the Sandhills Open Road Challenge begins today in Halsey. 

To start off the day Loup 2 Loup Race volunteers get breakfast at 6:30 a.m. at Halsey Elementary School. Spectator and Driver Breakfast is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at UCC Purdam Church.

The road will close at 7:30 a.m. and the Loup 2 Loup Race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Following the race will be lunch in Halsey at the Halsey Community Building. 

SORC tech inspection and number application is 9 a.m. to noon at Robbi Smith Shop located west of Arnold, first drive after the river bridge on the south side of the highway. Participants can watch for signs. SORC registration begins at the same time at the Arnold Community Center. 

At 4 p.m. at the Arnold Community Center is the first time drivers’ meeting. This meeting is mandatory for drivers competing in their first Sandhills Open Road Challenge. At 6 p.m. is the Drivers Meeting. 

Finally to end the day is the Steak Supper for Drivers and Navigators at 6:30 p.m. in the Arnold City Park.
