SEM FFA Member selected as finalist for an American Star award

Jacie Wolfinger from the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller FFA Chapter has been selected as a finalist for the FFA American Star Farmer Award.

Each year the National FFA Organization selects 16 FFA members who received their FFA Degrees that year as finalists in the American Star Awards. There are 4 American Star Award categories: American Star Farmer, American Star in Agribusiness, American Star in Agriculture Placement, and American Star in Agriscience.

Wolfinger is a finalist for the American Star Farmer award. The American Star Farmer is awarded to the FFA member that demonstrates the top production agriculture supervised agricultural experience in the nation. The member must demonstrate outstanding achievement, active FFA participation, and an exemplary scholastic record.

A team of judges will score every application in each star award area using the appropriate rubric. Upon completion of all applications, judges will then select four finalists in each award area. Each finalist will be invited to attend the National FFA Convention & Expo for an additional evaluation and interview by a second team of judges. The annual winner in each award area is selected from the four national finalists.
