Broken Bow Alumni is Scheduled for this Weekend

BROKEN BOW- Broken Bow Alumni Weekend is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday.

Friday, July 12, is the start of Broken Bow Alumni Weekend. From 4 to 6 p.m. registration will be open at the One Box Convention Center in the West Banquet Room. They encourage everyone to stop by and register so that the Alumni Association has everyone’s current contact information. Also at this time tickets for Saturday’s luncheon will be sold for $22.

On Saturday, from 9 to 11 a.m. registration will be open again and it is the last chance to buy tickets for the luncheon in the West Banquet Room.

At noon the All-Alumni Luncheon will go on. All alumni and guests are welcome to attend. They will be serving roast beef, cheesy potatoes, green beans, lettuce salad, roll, and dessert catered by Jubilee Catering out of Ord.

Honored classes that will be recognized include classes ending in 4 or 9. At the luncheon, the Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented to Paul Tierney from the class of 1970, who will also be the guest speaker.

This year the middle and high school will not be open to the public due to the demolition and remodeling. Alberta Crawley told KCNI/KBBN that the committee decided that it was for the best, but alumni can come back another year to see the school.

“But we thought this year with just a lot of destruction right now and some remodeling and things that we would just not do it this year. They’ll just have to come back when it’s complete and walk through and see all the new changes,” Crawley said.

Many classes that are celebrating a big year will have parties throughout the weekend at various locations. Some classes that are not getting together include the class of 1954 for their 70 year anniversary and the class of 2014 for their 10 year anniversary. However, the class of 1983 is celebrating their 41 year anniversary because they did not get together last year, and the class of 1961 will continue their tradition of getting together every year.

Alberta Crawley mentioned that all the time and effort she puts into Alumni weekend is very rewarding.

“It’s fun to see them connect with their classmates or other people that they know. It’s just fun to see them come to town in Broken Bow and enjoy their time,” said Crawley.
