Broken Bow vs. DCB for Mid Nebraska League Senior Legion Championship

The Broken Bow American Legion Post 126 seniors baseball team will face Dannebrog/Cairo/Boelus (DCB) tonight for the Mid Nebraska League championship.  The Bow seniors are 13-5 this season and won the west division of the Mid Nebraska League with a 9-3 league record.  DCB claimed the east division championship and enters tonight’s game at 15-6 overall.  Broken Bow senior legion coach Tim Loy told KCNI/KBBN sports that the team is excited to have the opportunity to play for a league title.

“It’s something that at the beginning of the season we thought we would have a chance to do.  You know we dealt with a few injuries a long the way like probably a lot of teams have but the kids have worked hard and stayed positive, stayed committed and we are excited to be where we are.”

Broken Bow has put together a roster that includes a mix of experience and some new faces.  Loy said he has been very pleased with the way the team has come together.

“The senior class, the guys that have graduated here have absolutely played a lot of baseball for teams in this area … The reality is because of some of the injuries we’ve had going into the season (we thought pitching depth would be a strength for us) and then suddenly it became a bit of a concern.  But some of these younger guys that we’ve had step in have just done a fantastic job and have really shored us up on the pitching side of things.”

The host site for the league championship game alternates year to year between the east and west division champions.  This year it is the west division champion’s turn to host.  Loy said that the team is excited and happy to be playing for a title on their home field.

“Yeah we were very excited about that.  Getting to host for these guys, especially the group that it’s probably their last year…Knowing the west side of our league this year would host the league championship game.  We’re excited to get to host it Monday night.”

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com.  A live video stream of tonight’s game, accompanied by the radio call, will be available on the Sandhills Express Facebook page and Sandhills Express You Tube channel.  The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
