LEXINGTON, NE – The sounds of horsepower, the smell of burnt fuel, and the haze of track dust will be present again this Sunday night in Lexington as Dawson County Raceway hosts their special Legends of Lex event.
Announced earlier this year and then postponed from a weekend in May, Legends of Lex will showcase drivers of Dawson County Raceway from over the years. Charger Chassis Crown Vic racing will take place as well, and previously-slated sprint cars will not be taking the track.
Terry McCarty, Denny Egge, Robby Leonard, Scott Blessing, Dallas Tobey, Ken Eckhoff, Troy Olmstead, Rod Clough, Wendell Stevens, and Dan Carl are featured Legends of Lex drivers. Flagman Scott Bennett will also be showcased. Posters will be available for spectators and fans and the Legends will be signing autographs ahead of race action starting at 5 PM.
The Dawson County Raceway Facebook page has been announcing confirmed drivers for Sunday’s event in past weeks. Each post’s comment section is featured with memories from “back in the day” about the driver, a personal story, or praise for the driver’s work ethic and driving style. The stands at the Dawson County Fairgrounds are sure to be full of fans sporting their favorite driver’s merchandise on Sunday night.
In addition to legendary racing and normally scheduled races, kids in attendance will have an opportunity to go home with a new bike as a part of bike night.
KCNI/KBBN Radio will be on hand well before racing starts with driver interviews, music, and the chance for race fans to register for the “Thrive for 75” cash drawings and grand prizes in celebration of their 75th anniversary. You are invited to tune to 95.3 FM and KBBN.com to hear raceway radio content.
